Website pop-ups are one of the most powerful tools in the LeadQuizzes toolkit. Instead of waiting for a user to find your quiz, you can bring the quiz to them. By using Targeting and Behavioral logic, you can ensure your quiz appears only when it is most relevant to your visitor.

Accessing the Setup

  1. Log in to your LeadQuizzes Dashboard.

  2. Select the quiz you wish to promote.

  3. Click the Share tab in the top navigation bar.

  4. Select the Website Popups option.

Defining Your Audience (Targeting)

In this section, you decide where and on what the pop-up appears.

  • Device Selection: Choose between Desktop, Tablet, and Mobile.

    • Strategy Tip: If your quiz has a lot of images, you may want to test the mobile experience first to ensure it’s seamless for phone users.

  • Page Logic: * All Pages: Best for general "Discovery" quizzes.

    • Specific Pages: Best for "Niche" quizzes. (e.g., Showing a "Golf Swing Quiz" only on your blog posts about golfing).

Timing the Trigger (Behavior)

  1. Launch Trigger: Decide what action a user takes to see the quiz.

    • Options usually include: Time on page (e.g., after 5 seconds) or Exit Intent (when they move to close the tab).

  2. Frequency: How often should a returning visitor see this?

    • Recommendation: Set this to "Once every 7 days" or "Once per session" to avoid overwhelming your loyal readers.

  3. Save: Always click Save and Continue to store your logic.

Going Live (The Critical Step)

Unlike other settings, pop-ups require a manual "On" switch.

  • Switch it to Active.

  • Important: Your website must have the LeadQuizzes tracking script installed in the header for this to work. If you haven't done this yet, visit our [Installation Guide].

Note:

  • Pop-up not appearing? Verify that the quiz is Published and the toggle is set to Active.

  • Still not seeing it? Clear your browser cache or try viewing your site in an Incognito/Private window.

Best Practices for High Conversion

The 5-Second Rule Don't show a pop-up the millisecond someone lands on your site. Give them at least 5–10 seconds to realize they are in the right place first. This builds trust and leads to higher quiz completion rates.

  • Exit Intent is King: Use the exit-intent trigger to "save" a bounce. If someone is about to leave your site, a quiz is a great way to give them a reason to stay.

  • Keep it Relevant: If your pop-up matches the content of the page, your conversion rate can be up to 3x higher than a generic sitewide pop-up.
