How to Set Up A/B Split Testing for Your Quiz

Learn how to implement A/B Split Testing using LeadQuizzes.

Before starting an A/B split test, make sure that you have created and published both the original quiz and the variation you want to test. You have the option to test against an existing quiz, a customizable template, or the current quiz variation.

  1. Log in to your LeadQuizzes account dashboard, where you can view all your quizzes. This is where you'll connect the two quizzes you want to split test.

  1. Click the dropdown menu on the quiz you want to A/B test. Choose a Test Number to add the quiz to that specific test group. Repeat the same process for the quiz variation. You'll see an eye symbol indicating that the quiz is undergoing an A/B split test.

  1. Go to one of the quiz variations and click on the three dots. In the dropdown menu, select "View A/B test" to access the Single A/B Split Test page/pop-up. You can also access this page/pop-up by clicking the eye icon opposite the test number.

Note: Traffic will be evenly divided, with a 50-50% split between the two quizzes. This implies that users will encounter either the first or the second quiz randomly. However, if you have both quizzes integrated into your web pages, or set as a website popup or announcement bar, the traffic for each embedded quiz will be alternated at a 50-50% ratio.

  1. In the pop-up, you will see the quizzes included in that test group along with their respective statistics. You can track Views, Responses, Contacts, and Completions for the two quizzes in that test group.

Note: Quiz Views are employed to ascertain which quiz should be displayed. Therefore, when a quiz is LOADED, a VIEW is logged. Additionally, a VIEW is recorded if you hover over the CTA button or the CTE button, or if a quiz is displayed as a popup or loaded in the iframe embedded on the page.

  1. From the pop-up, you have several options to control the test:
  • Start test: Initiates the test. Note that if the test has already begun, this option won't be visible.
  • Stop test: Ends the test and removes it entirely.
  • Pause test: Temporarily halts the test without resetting the data. The "Start" button replaces the "Pause" button.
  • Reset Results: Resets the start time and sets all statistics to zero. The test will begin anew from that point.

  1. After selecting any of the above actions, a confirmation pop-up will appear. Choose "Yes" to proceed or "No" to cancel.

  1. In the content builder page, you'll find a button with a green circle if an A/B split test is set for that quiz. Clicking this button will take you to the Single A/B Split Test page/pop-up for that specific quiz.

Note:

  1. If quizA has an Announcement Bar, but quizB lacks one, we won't be able to switch between Announcement Bars on the page. Consequently, in this scenario, the same quiz with an Announcement Bar will always be displayed. This principle also extends to Website Popups, Embed CTA (calls-to-action), and Append CTE (class-to-element).
  2. If the settings are not configured correctly for both quizzes, then only one quiz from that group will be displayed consistently.
  3. Furthermore, if the connected quiz in the AB Split Test is Unpublished, we will not alternate between quizzes; the published quiz will always be displayed.
