Adding Custom Domain to Your Quiz
In this article, we will be walking you through setting up your own Custom Domains instead of using our Deployed Content URL.

How To Purchase Custom Domain Subscription For Your Website Properties
1. Navigate to your LeadQuizzes account dashboard, click "Settings" in the top right-hand corner.
2. On the drop-down click on "Billing Details".
3. Next, click on the "Add Subscription" tab to purchase a custom domain subscription for your website properties. You can buy a custom domain for all your website properties.
Note: Your custom domain subscription will be renewed automatically every year at the end of the current subscription.
4. Next, select the website property you want to purchase a custom domain for and click "Purchase."
5. Lastly, click "Yes" to confirm your purchase.
6. You can edit/change the website property for your custom domain by clicking "Edit."
7. You can cancel your custom domain subscription by clicking on Unsubscribe. Note that if you cancel your custom domain subscription, It can't be restored at a later time. You will have to purchase a new subscription if you decide to use a custom domain late, and you will be billed immediately for it.
How To Set Up DNS CNAME On Your Site
Before setting up DSN CNAME on your site:
- Decide the custom Sub-domain name you want to use for this website property.
- Copy the exact Target/Value shown in your Custom subdomain settings in your LeadQuizzes account under Sites & Organisations. See the screenshot below.
Cpanel
1. Log in to your site Cpanel and look for DNS.
2. Select add CNAME record and in the popup that appears, under the name, give your subdomain a name, while under CNAME, you type in the exact Target/Value as shown in your custom subdomain settings in LeadQuizzes, and click "Add A CNAME Record.".
Note: Sub-domain names have to be smaller than 256 characters in length, they cannot be IP addresses, they must not contain spaces or any special characters such as _~`!@#$%^*()=+{}[]|\;:'",<>/? And cannot begin or end with a '-' character.
CNAME record shouldn't contain characters such as _ or -, but only use alphanumeric characters.
Cloudflare
1. Log in to your Cloudflare and select the site you want to set up DNS for.
2. Next, select the DNS tab on the top menu and click on Add Record.
3. Next, give your subdomain a name under the Name field. Under Target, type in the exact Target/Value shown in your custom subdomain settings in LeadQuizzes, under TTL, select Auto, and under Proxy Status, select DNS only. Finally, click Save.
Note - Your CNAME record shouldn't contain characters such as _ or -, but only use alphanumeric characters.
How To Verify DNS CNAME Is Active and Connected To The Right Target
To verify externally if your DNS CNAME is active, go to this URL https://dnslookup.online/cname.html. Type your subdomain URL on the web page, and click CNAME Lookup. If your DNS is active, you will get a result showing your subdomain URL and the LeadQuizzes target URL, and if not, you will get a failed notification request. DNS CNAME may sometimes take up to 12+ hours to become active.
How To Add & Verify a Custom Domain On Your LeadQuizzes Website Account.
1. Navigate to your LeadQuizzes account dashboard, click "Settings" in the top right-hand corner & select "Sites & Organisation" from the Settings menu.
2. On this page, under the Custom Domain tab verify the custom subdomain you created when setting up DNS CNAME on your site and click "Save Setup."
3. Your Custom Subdomain should now say "Active." You can edit your Custom Subdomain by clicking the Edit button or remove your Custom Subdomain at any time by clicking the Remove button.
Note: If the status still shows ‘’Pending’’ after a few hours, click the refresh button. Sometimes, the DNS changes are not instant and require some time to take effect.
Note: The Custom Subdomain would only say Active if you have already set up the CNAME on your part.
How To Add Custom Content URL Path On Your LeadQuizzes Content.
1. To add a custom content URL path to your LeadQuizzes content, you first have to select the content you would like to set up a custom domain for & click the "Edit" icon on it.
2. Once you are in the Content Builder, click "Share" on the top menu.
3. On this page, the Custom Domain URL will be auto-populated with a path you can copy and use without further changes. I.e., quiz.battercapture.com/lp/5S_DU6CFgw
Note: This Custom Domain URL path if unchanged will be the same as the Content URL path.
4. Next, you have the option to add a custom path to this field, which you can save, copy and use. Ie. quiz.bettercapture.com/membersurvey
5. Finally, to use only the base URL/Subdomain for this path, click on the checkbox, save and copy the URL. i.e quiz.bettercapture.com/
